Selective Mutism (SM) is an anxiety disorder of childhood. Children speak freely at home but “freeze” in social settings such as school. It is not a lack of speech ability or stubbornness, but a strong anxiety response. Awareness and support for children with SM remain limited. Parents, educators, and therapists are looking for practical, playful, and evidence-based tools to help children gradually find their voice. The TOK TOK set is an innovative educational and therapeutic package combining play and storytelling. All items are contained in a wooden box. The set includes game cards, which create the “board” each time, making every game flexible, dynamic, and playful. A dice is used both to start the game and for activity challenges. Activity cards offer playful challenges guiding children to show, whisper, or speak out loud. The set also includes the storybook “Amalia and her Brave Butterfly”. The game is collaborative. Children progress together, supporting each other. There is no single winner; progress is measured through teamwork and shared joy. The game provides a safe environment for children who struggle with speaking, allowing them to participate without pressure. Through collaboration, children gain confidence in expressing themselves. The storybook supports emotional development through the metaphor of a butterfly representing courage and voice. Although designed for children with Selective Mutism, the set is equally valuable for all children. It strengthens voice and self-expression, encourages gradual and safe communication, builds teamwork and social skills, boosts confidence and resilience, and turns communication into a joyful, playful adventure. It is a unique educational, psychological, and recreational tool suitable for families, classrooms, and therapy contexts. Created and designed by Maria Konstantinopoulou, Psychologist – Systemic Psychotherapist, the set is supported scientifically by the Hellenic Association for Selective Mutism (ESEAL). A game that is more than just a game—it is a pathway to voice, courage, and collaboration.
